"Jennifer Kim is a Licensed Master Social Worker in the State of Georgia, and graduated from Boston College with a Master's Degree in Clinical Social Work. During her studies, she gained experience as a case manager in early intervention work and counseling in a therapeutic school. Following her move to Georgia, she has worked in public schools and colleges, providing mental health services through a core community agency.
Jennifer enjoys working with children, adolescents, and families. She has experience working with individuals regarding mood disorders, co-occuring disorders, substance use disorders, communication issues, grief/loss, trauma, negative thought patterns, cultural issues, and hopelessness. She utilizes Narrative, Solution Focused, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral, and Dialectical Behavioral therapies, while guided by the Attachment, Regulation, Competency framework. Jennifer also utilized client centered play therapy and sandtray techniques in her work with children and adolescents.
As a clinician, Jennifer believes that each individual already has strengths and abilities to live day by day, and that a therapeutic relationship seeks to empower an individual to grow those existing strengths. Jennifer seeks to create a safe, nonjudgmental space for individuals to draw meaning from their experiences and create their own narratives, while respecting client values and beliefs. She works with individuals to support them in exploration of themselves and their strengths/needs to empower them to life more fulfilling lives. Jennifer provides family counseling services to support individuals in improved communication and functioning. Jennifer also provides services in Korean as a second language, and utilizes this as a means to bridge gaps in cultural understanding within families."
